Dire Warning

Subtle changes in the air dismissed as being irrelevant,
never thought to be cause for worry or seen important,
Nature's balance is delicate dependent upon respect,
not used as a dumping ground for mankind's neglect.
Wasting resources in pursuit of pleasurable delight,
despite our world's condition and its terrible plight.
Unable to ensure survival of an overcrowded population,
which keeps getting larger with every new generation.
Soon there'll be little room for someplace to retreat,
when life does overwhelm you with problems bittersweet.
Where nature provides a needed and welcome change,
from everday troubles which would otherwise estrange.
Taking away the joy of living though willing to endure,
despite hardships faced which make people insecure.
We have to begin a journey towards a place unknown,
and maybe there'll be hope for children yet born.
