Relentless Desire

Feeling the need to escape from your troubled life,

fraught with confusion about the world full of strife.

Where beauty is cold without having pity for others,

and children cry on city streets needing their mothers.

As people pass by with disregard for lack of compassion,

more interested in how they look and trending fashion.

Although a few reach out trying to ease their sadness,

with hearts afire with understated love born of loneliness.

Driven to find a paradise amidst cruelty and turmoil,

and make the world better for them who ever toil.

In need of a place where worries simply don't exist,

and thoughts are filled by happiness that do persist.

Even though there's an occasional cloud in the sky,

and birds are seen aplenty like spirits that do fly.

Forever freed from chains which once bound secure,

like eagles soaring high beneath an ocean of azure.
